Millikan High Graduate Goes To California State University on Trumpet Scholarship
Even the family basset hound, Daisy, howls to the music as Tony Belletti practices three to five hours a day in preparation for the classes and concerts that will be a part of his freshman year as a music performance major at California State University, Long Beach.
Belletti, 18, grew up listening to jazz and classical music played during concerts at CSULB. His parents said he always had an interest in music, even before the fourth grade when he dusted off his dad’s old trumpet in the garage and started to play.
Dad, Dominic Belletti, had played the trumpet in high school, which is why he thinks his son chose that instrument. He said music instructors almost immediately told him his son had real talent.
